Catherine Madsen is the author of The Bones Reassemble: Reconstituting Liturgical Speech, In Medias Res: Liturgy for the Estranged, the novel A Portable Egypt, the libretto for Robert Stern’s oratorio Shofar, and the long poem Nordwahr. Her essays include several about the works of J. R. R. Tolkien. She has served as a contributing editor for the interreligious journal Cross Currents and the Yiddish Book Center’s magazine Pakn Treger.
